karres+brands, in collaboration with ADEPT, Orbicon, Max Fordham, and UiWE, has been selected as one of seven teams which will compete to design the Christiansholm Masterplan in Copenhagen. The site is approximately 29,000 m² and has one of Copenhagens most attractive locations in the inner harbour next to the Nyhavn, the Skuespilhuset theater, and The Royal Danish Opera.

The vision for the project is to develop a vibrant new neighborhood, where public spaces and buildings support each other, creating an urban space that is engaging and modern, while reflecting the sites historical context. The island will consist primarily of harbour-front residential buildings, but also cafes, shops and restaurants. Additionally the pre-qualified teams should propose a significant public function that enhances the interaction between building and urban life and provides the framework for an original, exciting new destination in Copenhagen.

In addition Henning Larsen Architects, Cobe, C.F. Møller, Holscher Nordberg, MVRDV, and OMA have been invited to participate in the competition.
