Nærheden Selected for 15th Venice Biennale of Architecture

The Danish Architecture Centre (DAC) has selected the "suburb of the future" for the exhibition at the Danish pavilion at the upcoming Venice Biennale of Architecture.

karres+brands together with Arkitema Architects, Social Action, Everyday Studio, ViaTrafik, Esbensen and Orbicon made the design of the 63 hectares sized residential area. The design is focused on creating an unique quality of life in addition to the existing suburbs around Copenhagen. To achieve this the special landscape characteristics of the hilly Hedeland are used explicitly. In addition the plan set conditions for future residents to be (partially) responsible for the development of the area at the level of the building block and the individual house.

The exhibition is from May 28 to November 27, 2016.
