Naerheden winner of the WAN Urban challenge 2018

The project “Naerheden, suburb of the future” is one of the five winners of the WAN urban challenge 2018 “Reclaiming the streets”.

The jury was impressed by the “sophisticated working of an urban block” and called the plan a “robust framework, with a varied urban fabric that can absorb the needs of small and large scale developers, private initiatives, and building groups, as well as different programs.”
The WAN urban challenge is organized by World Architecture News in partnership with the NLA in order to create a vision for the future with new ideas which help address a range of current urban problems; traffic congestion, safety, and environmental issues.

Earlier, the project “Bijlmerdreef – The performative street” got a special mention from the jury in the shortlist phase.
