The Nelson Mandela Bridge on the east side of the Defence Island in Woerden (NL) was officially opened on the 20th of February 2015. The karres+brands designed slow traffic bridge is an important link between the station area and the historical city centre of Woerden. The bridge design establishes a contemporary relationship with the industrial and military past of the island.
