On Saturday January 26, the final designs for the new estate ‘t Eemgoed have been presented. The advisors on the fields of architecture, installations and landscape architecture explained their plans to the enthusiastic group of future residents. This presentation initiates the technical design phase, where the several advisors work in construction teams towards expected completion by the end of 2020.
The new development of ‘t Eemgoed consists of 82 households and a communal house on an estate of around 7 hectares in Oosterwold, Almere (NL). Within the guidelines of the masterplan, Karres en Brands and the architects of Cepezed together designed a framework which is based on the concept of longhouses. These longhouses are one-story high row houses that are covered with earth, which create the borders between the different landscape rooms.
On this estate, joint living and gardening are key. Almost half of the estate will be reserved for urban farming. Design and realization is in the hands of the future residents. They will give shape to the landscape rooms in the form of vegetable gardens, orchards, playgrounds and children’s farms.
This spring, the presented designs will be elaborated to building specifications. After the summer the construction of this special estate will start.
